Sir Alex Ferguson's gripe over Arsenal's "deal" with the FA is the lead story of most of Saturday's backpages

The Gunners were handed a 175,000 fine and four player bans following after being found guilty of improper conduct in their match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Sun leads with their "Battle Of The Bosses", with one page highlighting Ferguson's shock at the leniency of the punishment and on the opposite page Arsenal boss stating his case.

The Independent's James Lawton believes Ferguson should see the "positive results" seen from the sentences handed out to Arsenal.

In other football news, the Daily Express writes that one of Arsenal's banned players, Patrick Vieira, snubbed an anger counsellor employed by his club.

The same paper writes that Newcastle United's Portuguese star Hugo Viana wants to return to his home country after failing to settle at the Tyneside club.

Still on Newcastle, star striker Alan Shearer is said to have wanted to play in the Carling Cup match against West Brom, which the Magpies lost.

Manager Sir Bobby Robson hit back at some fans who said Shearer should have played.

The Daily Mail quotes the striker: "I wanted to play on Wednesday. But it was the manager's decision and I could do nothing about it."

The Daily Mirror also writes that Premiership stars face drug tests at home as a result the new testing plan drawn up by FA chief executive Mark Palios.

Away from football, the same paper also says that England's '16th man' Dan Luger will have the cap won against Samoa taken away from him.
