With golf's Open championship set to provide its most thrilling finish for years, it may seem strange that the sports pages are dominated by a man with no chance of victory. But the tale of Mark Roe's disqualification for a scorecard error after playing the best round of his life has summed up the drama of this year's event.
The News of the World calls it "the most expensive blunder of Roe's life in his bid for the 700,00 first prize".
"Mark Roe has always been the joker of European golf," adds the Sunday Mirror.
"Yesterday, however, he was left looking like a clown after one of the greatest card cock-ups in Open history."
