Chelsea's so-called "fantasy football" reaches new heights in Sunday's papers, with the few top players in the world not to have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge getting the nod.

Manchester United misfit Juan Sebastian Veron is said to be on his way in a 15m transfer according to the Daily Star Sunday, while The Mail on Sunday says we can expect a 50m bid for Steven Gerrard "in the next 48 hours."

Chelsea's new owner Roman Abramovich must have some annoying loose change to get rid of, because The People reports that the club are to offer 100m for Arsenal's Patrick Vieira AND Thierry Henry. As you do.

And it doesn't stop there. Depending on which paper you read, Chelsea are also linked with Jay-Jay Okocha (Sunday Mirror), Francesco Totti and Emerson (News of the World) and Andriy Shevchenko.

Not to mention the "fact" that England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson will take over after the end of England's Euro 2004 qualifying campaign in October.

Elsewhere, there are other football transfer stories, just to show that Chelsea have not completely monopolised the market.

England full-back Danny Mills could be on his way out of Leeds - at least for a season. The Mail reports that the 26-year-old will be let go on a season-long loan to help cut down on the wage bill.

At the rate Leeds are haemorrhaging players, you could be excused for thinking that the wage bill would not be a problem any more, but such are Leeds' financial woes that yet another prize asset could walk away.

Away from football, England's comprehensive defeat of South Africa in the one-day cricket final at Lord's attracts universal praise.

"Vaughan's men shine in the sun," says The Sunday Telegraph. "Rout of Africa," agrees The Sunday Times.

And The People believes that Prince Naseem Hamed could return to the boxing ring in September.
