Martino was disappointed with his side

Gerardo Martino was dissatisfied with Paraguay's performance in the 0-0 draw with New Zealand which secured them a place in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Paraguay finished top of Group F as a result of the draw and they will now face the runners-up of Group E.

"We played very badly in the first half but we were better in the second half," said Paraguay coach Martino.

"I'm not pleased with how we played. We had problems in an area where we didn't expect, and that was in attack."

Paraguay seriously tested New Zealand keeper Mark Paston on only three occasions.

Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz, who stung Paston's hands with a 25-yard free-kick in the second half, thought the game had been "boring".

"We're very happy to have qualified but it was a very difficult game," Santa Cruz added.

"The game got boring because they were so defensive. In a game like this you expect to win but the important thing is we qualified."
