Feels like the Fifa 2010 World Cup finals are really up and running now, especially after England's opening match.

Here's my top picks from Saturday:

VINCENT ENYEAMA (goalkeeper) Nigeria

He saved Nigeria's blushes. It could have been six for Argentina.

GLEN JOHNSON (right-back) England

Competent display from the Liverpool defender.

WALTER SAMUEL (centre-back) Argentina

He looked formidable at the back for Argentina.

LEE JUNG-SOO (centre-back) South Korea

Kept a clean sheet and tapped in unmarked to open the scoring with a striker's finish.

GABRIEL HEINZE (left-back) Argentina

As always, great on set plays. Always prepared to attack the ball. Perhaps Manchester United would have won the title if they'd still had him!

PARK JI-SUNG (midfield) South Korea

'Three-lung Park' (as Manchester United fans call him) scored the kind of goal befitting the world stage.

LANDON DONOVAN (midfield) United States

The US captain led by example.

STEVEN GERRARD (midfield) England

England captain tried to lead by example.

JAVIER MASCHERANO (midfield) Argentina

Sensible, disciplined and controlled.

LIONEL MESSI (striker) Argentina

Seemed to spend 90% of the match with the ball tied to his foot. A goal would have crowned a superb performance.

CARLOS TEVEZ (striker) Argentina

On a day that wasn't blessed with great striking performances, he produced a co-starring act with Messi.
