Fabregas has not played since April |
Spain's World Cup hopes have received a boost after Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas came through a full training season. The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, has been out of action since April. Fabregas cracked his fibula in Arsenal's quarter-final first-leg against Barcelona at the Emirates. But he played a full part in a two-touch passing match watched by 2,000 fans, while Liverpool striker Fernando Torres trained on his own on Monday. Torres is recovering from a knee injury after undergoing surgery on a torn cartilage in April. Speculation over Fabregas's return to Spain has intensified after the midfielder, in answer to the question, "If you leave Arsenal, will it be for Barcelona?", replied "Yes". "You see your Spanish team-mates succeeding here at Barcelona and it is exciting because you have worked alongside them for so long," he added. Spain face Saudi Arabia in Austria on 29 May, the first of three friendlies before the World Cup in South Africa. Meanwhile, Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has banned his players from social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook at any of the team's training camps or at the World Cup starting on 11 June. As well as the Switzerland, Spain will face Chile and Honduras in Group H.
