Injured trio Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta have all made Spain's provisional World Cup squad.

Both Arsenal playmaker Fabregas (leg) and Liverpool striker Torres (knee) are "recovering very positively", according to Spain's football governing body.

Barcelona midfielder Iniesta (leg) is also expected to be fit for the finals.

Coach Vincente del Bosque, who will cut the squad to 23 by 1 June, has called up uncapped goalkeepers Victor Valdes and David De Gea and striker Pedro.

Valdes makes the list after a fine season for European champions Barcelona.

With captain and Real Madrid number one Iker Casillas and Liverpool's Pepe Reina Spain's first and second choices between the posts, Del Bosque will choose between 28-year-old Valdes, Villarreal's Diego Lopez and Atletico Madrid's Gea, 19, for the third slot.

Barca's 22-year-old youth product Pedro has forced himself into the World Cup reckoning with 22 goals in all competitions for the Catalan giants - one of those on his 'El Classico' debut last month as Barca beat bitter rivals Real Madrid 2-0.

Marcos Senna and Santi Cazorla, both regulars from Del Bosque's Euro 2008-winning squad, were named despite their unexceptional campaigns for Villarreal.

Fabregas cracked a right fibula during the Gunners' 2-2 Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona in April, but the midfield maestro recently claimed he was "on schedule" to return in time for the start of the favourites' South Africa campaign - a prediction echoed by Spain's football federation on Tuesday.

Torres, meanwhile, has endured a frustrating season on Merseyside but is forecast to have recovered from the knee surgery he underwent in April in time for Spain's opener against Switzerland on 16 June.

Barcelona midfield star Xavi is also included after recently returning to the first-team fold with the La Liga leaders following the leg injury he sustained at the beginning of May.

There is also a place for in-form Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, who earlier in his career retired from international football because he suffered travel anxiety attacks.

But hotly-touted 19-year-old attackers Bojan Krkic, of Barcelona, and Racing Santander's Sergio Canales both miss out, as does the country's veteran record scorer Raul.

As well as the Swiss, Spain will face Chile and Honduras in Group H.
