Reyna plays for Manchester City |
Claudio Reyna has been declared fit for the USA's first World Cup group game against the Czech Republic. The Manchester City midfielder came through a behind-closed-doors friendly against Angola which the USA won 1-0.
"Everything has really gone to plan, which is nice," said Reyna, who will be playing in his fourth World Cup finals. "Now it's just full steam ahead."
It was the 32-year-old captain's first outing since injuring his hamstring against Morocco on 23 May.
Reyna, who sat out the opening game in 2002 with a quadriceps strain, has scored eight goals in 110 international appearances.
And coach Bruce Arena was never in any doubt his on-field leader would be fit in time for the start of the tournament.
"Claudio's like a fine wine," he said. "He gets better with age. He knows this is one of his last great opportunities as a player."
