Lemerre is already putting this World Cup behind him |
Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre tried to stay positive after his side exited the World Cup with a 1-0 defeat to Ukraine, who reached the second round. He said: "We share the disillusionment of the Tunisian fans but life goes on.
"We now have to think about qualification for the next African Nations Cup and the next World Cup.
"We had a plan to try to force the match if it was still 0-0 with 20 minutes to go but unfortunately Ukraine managed to score."
Tunisia needed to beat Ukraine in their final Group H match to have any chance of reaching the second round.
But Lemerre's men faced an uphill task, especially when striker Ziad Jaziri was sent off for a second bookable offence just before half-time.
Ukraine's talismanic striker Andriy Shevchenko then ended Tunisia's World Cup dreams with a penalty in the 71st minute.
"We are going away with a lot of lessons, both the coaching staff and the players," Lemerre added.
