Fifa agrees to pay Togo's bonuses
Fifa has agreed to resolve the Togo players' financial dispute by paying the squad's bonuses directly.

The players threatened to boycott their remaining World Cup matches as they feared the Togo football federation would not pay up after the tournament.

But Fifa's move means the bonuses are paid directly to the players rather than paying the federation first and letting them pass on the money.

The action means the match with France on Friday in Cologne will now go ahead.

Fifa communications director Markus Siegler said: "It is in the form of an advance to Togo, so the situation should now calm down."

The players wanted 110,000 each to play in the tournament, plus 21,000 each for a win and 11,000 per draw.

There were doubts over whether Togo's match with Switzerland on Monday would go ahead but the players decided they would compete.

The African nation lost that match 2-0, meaning they cannot now qualify for the knockout stages.
