Sweden coach Lars Lagerback tries to make a point against Trinidad and Tobago |
Coach Lars Lagerback admitted poor finishing cost Sweden dearly as they were held 0-0 by Trinidad and Tobago in their opening World Cup Group B match. "Their keeper made some great saves and we just couldn't score," he said.
"We were the much better side but they showed great skill and defended solidly but I thought we still played well."
Lagerback now wants maximum points against Paraguay in their next game, saying: "Paraguay played well against England and they will tough to beat."
Sweden midfielder Kim Kallstrom also admitted that his side were guilty of missing their opportunities.
"We had three, four, five completely open goals but could just not score," said Kallstrom, who came on in a double substitution with 12 minutes remaining.
"It was tough and it will be even tougher for us from now on. We will work very hard to win our next match."
