Mourinho believes Scolari is doing a wonderful job |
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is desperate to see Luiz Felipe Scolari remain as Portugal coach after the World Cup finals. Scolari has guided Portugal to the semi-finals and also took them to the runners-up spot at Euro 2004.
Mourinho told Portuguese TV: "There are not many Portuguese coaches with his record or status to motivate a team to reach this level of performance.
"There is every reason for him to continue. I hope that is what happens."
Mourinho was also quick to praise Scolari's man-management skills.
He added: "Ricardo was not a starting goalkeeper with Sporting Lisbon for a while, Maniche has hardly played in a year.
"Costinha has not had a club, Helder Postiga scores one or two goals a year, Miguel was without a club for a while and Nuno Valente was at one point playing for the Porto B team.
"But all the time Scolari told them he counted on them."
Portugal face France in the semi-finals on Wednesday having knocked out England in the last round.
