Klose also scored five goals in the 2002 World Cup |
Germany striker Miroslav Klose won the Golden Shoe after finishing as the leading scorer at the 2006 World Cup. Klose scored five goals in the tournament to finish two clear of eight players who managed three goals.
The 28-year-old also scored five times in the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan and Korea.
His tally of five goals is the lowest by the tournament's leading scorer since the 1962 World Cup in Chile, when six players scored four times.
Klose scored twice against both Costa Rica and Ecuador in group games and headed the equaliser in the quarter-final against Argentina, which the hosts won in a penalty shootout.
The eight players who scored three goals were Hernan Crespo (Argentina), Fernando Torres (Spain), Thierry Henry (France), Maxi Rodriguez (Argentina), Lukas Podolski (Germany), Ronaldo (Brazil), David Villa (Spain) and Zinedine Zidane (France).
Steven Gerrard was England's leading scorer with two goals.
