Skipper Zinedine Zidane scored the deciding goal to send France through to Sunday's final in Berlin against Italy.

"What matters now is to go all the way. We can't be content with that," the French boss said.

"We must recuperate and start focusing. We must give all we have in the final to make sure we have no regrets."

Zidane, 34, scored from the penalty spot in the first half after Ricardo Carvalho had fouled Thierry Henry inside the area.

The captain, who will retire after the final, slotted with aplomb and after the victory fellow veteran Lilian Thuram admitted reaching Sunday's showdown against the Azzurri was a dream come true.

"I'm 34 and I feel like the 10-year-old boy who watched the World Cup and found it beautiful," said the defender, who was named man of the match.

"The final had been our objective from the start. Being there is a dream. Missing it would have been a nightmare."

Henry was in the 1998 World Cup-winning France squad, but, unlike Zidane and Thuram, did not feature in the Paris final.

"We defended like lions," said the Arsenal striker. "The way we defended, everyone, you could see that the team had desire and commitment and everything, plus a lot of technique."
