Eriksson is ready to sacrifice Lampard ahead of Gerrard - Butcher |
England need their World Cup campaign to come alive against Sweden in Cologne - and I believe it will. The tempo of the game will suit England far better, as will the kick-off time and the Swedish approach.
Sweden will try to get about England as they did against Paraguay and I believe Sven-Goran Eriksson's side will respond to that.
We've heard rumours about disharmony in the Sweden camp.
Take all that with a pinch of salt.
Like England, Sweden will want to win the group and avoid Argentina in the quarter-finals.

It looks like Owen Hargreaves will come into the holding midfield role, with Steven Gerrard being rested, and Wayne Rooney getting the nod alongside Michael Owen in attack.
And that in itself throws up all manner of intriguing possibilities.
If, as we are hearing, Gerrard is rested, it proves just how integral he is to England's plans.
Both Gerrard and Frank Lampard are one yellow card away from a suspension, but it appears Eriksson is ready to effectively sacrifice the Chelsea midfielder ahead of Liverpool's captain.
It will be a big game for Owen, Rooney and Hargreaves.
Rooney has to play to work on his fitness and Owen has got to show us he's still the player everybody thinks he is and has been in the past.
In this World Cup he hasn't shown that, but he has had two appearances of just under an hour and I think he'll relish Tuesday because of the pace of the game.
Hargreaves has struggled to become an England regular - Butcher |
If it all goes well, Eriksson will then have three strikers vying for two positions because Peter Crouch has done well, and he'll have three midfield players vying for two positions.
This is where the future of England's World Cup hopes lie.
The situation is so fluid I wouldn't even rule out the possibility of Eriksson leaving out either Gerrard or Lampard at some point down the line.
If Owen doesn't do well that will be a real dilemma, but it is not as if he has one game to prove himself.
He hasn't. He has proved himself time and time again, but it's not about what he's done in the past it is about what he is doing now.
In World Cups you haven't got time - you have to get it right in the space of a few weeks.
Hargreaves has a big chance to stake a claim in the England side.
He is something of an unloved figure for England fans, but this is partly because the role he plays is an essentially destructive rather than a creative one, but this should not detract from its importance.
Hargreaves would not have had the career he has had at Bayern Munich unless he was a very good player and I hope he shows it against the Swedes.
England must go all out to finish top of their group, because it means their route opens up nicely and they avoid Argentina in the quarter-finals.
England will play Ecuador or Germany in the last 16, then Holland or Portugal in the quarter-finals, and I fancy them to win those games.
The squad appears to have been hurt by criticism from ex-players, but I have to say they have deserved criticism because they haven't played very well.
I don't care what the players say because I say what I believe, and I believe we will start to see England blossom at this World Cup.
But there are so many allegedly great players in the team it is about time they delivered.
That is the criticism - the players can't have it both ways.
They can't be praised to the skies when they do well and then expect nobody to say anything when they don't deliver.
The players know, the pundits know and the punters know.
They can see for themselves England have been disappointing.
But I genuinely feel we will see an upturn and that England will top the group.
