England team face disturbed night
By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer in Nuremberg

England's players faced a disturbed night as Germany fans celebrated their World Cup win against Poland outside the team hotel in Nuremberg.

The hotel was surrounded into the early hours by thousands of Germany supporters in joyous mood after their 1-0 victory against Poland.

England's squad is based in the city centre before the game with Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.

Cars blocked roads nearby as security staff guarded the hotel.

Germany fans took to the streets after the last-minute winner against Poland and there was a strong police presence as they gathered to celebrate.

Cars tooting horns and fans waving Germany flags blocked the road outside England's team hotel as Sven-Goran Eriksson's players enjoyed their last night of relaxation before facing Trinidad and Tobago in their second World Cup group game.
