Moore lifted the World Cup in 1966 |
Life-size images of England's 1966 World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore are to be used in a charity fundraising campaign to tie in with the World Cup. Fans can pay to pin messages of support for the 2006 squad on the cut-outs in 500 Cancer Research UK shops.
Money raised will go to the Bobby Moore Fund, set up after his death from bowel cancer in 1993, aged 51.
"It's a great way to raise money and cheer on the England team at the same time," said his widow Stephanie.
Simon Ledsham, retail director at Cancer Research UK, agreed.
"It's 40 years since England won the World Cup and the 'pin a message on Bobby' initiative is a great way of collecting good luck wishes that will bring the boys the luck they need in Germany," he said.
