Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner was delighted with the way his side coped with the heat in the win over the USA. The Czechs ran out 3-0 winners as the temperature hit 30C in Gelsenkirchen's AufSchalke Arena.
He said: "I am very proud of my team which was very disciplined in attack and in defence and they played well in temperatures which were not ideal."
Tomas Rosicky, who scored twice for the Czechs, added: "We're really satisfied with the win and how we played."
Rosicky added: "They were tough opponents. I am not sure the score indicates how tough they were.
"We had problems early on, we couldn't get our timing right.
"It improved halfway through the first half and I think we controlled the ball much better after that."
