Luis Oliveira Goncalves has named his World Cup squad |
Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves' 23-man World Cup squad shows just four changes to the one he originally named for the African Cup of Nations. Injuries have ruled out midfielder Gilberto and striker Maurito, while goalkeeper Goliath and defender Jacinto are the other players to miss out.
The replacements include Portugal-based duo of Mateus and Marco Airosa as well as Hull City's Rui Marques.
Mario, who plays for InterClube in Angola, comes in as the third keeper.
"These are the best players we have available in terms of quality and we are going to prepare the best we can with them," Goncalves said.
"We are going to try to create a cohesive, determined team that will fight to the end."
Angola are grouped with Portugal, Iran and Mexico at the finals in Germany and play their first match on 11 June.
"We are aware that we are one of the most humble teams in the tournament...but we will do everything we can," Goncalves said.
"It's going to be difficult to get through to the next round because our opposition is very strong."
"But for us, it is a victory just to be at the World Cup. We are going to try to play well and represent our country and the African continent with dignity."
The Palancas Negras also play Argentina in a warm-up friendly on 20 May in Italy.
