Dunn has forged a growing reputation as England's under-21 captain - and underlined his potential with a brilliant individual goal in the European Championship play-off in Holland. Eriksson will take the opportunity to assess Dunn again in the second leg at Pride Park on Tuesday, as England's youngsters aim to build on the 2-2 draw in Utrecht. And he looks certain to be given his international debut in the friendly against Holland in February.
And Eriksson hinted he is ready to give Dunn his chance to come through in the closing months before Korea and Japan in the same fashion as David Platt in 1990 and Michael Owen in 1998. He said: "I have seen him play three times this season and he did well. "Maybe he is not a natural outside left, but the goal he scored in Holland on Friday was top class. "I saw him play for Blackburn against Arsenal and he scored twice. He might be one for February. "I always said we would look at one or two of the under-21 side." |
