Chinese fans celebrate the World Cup win over Oman
China has indicated it wants to host football's World Cup finals, although it has yet to decide on when to launch the bid.

Zhang Jilong, vice president of the Chinese Football Association, confirmed China will bid for the rights to host the tournament if it gains the support of football's governing body Fifa.

"China has what it takes to stage the soccer World Cup finals," said Zhang.

The move comes less than a week after China qualified for the first time for the World Cup Finals with a 1-0 win over Oman.

Back in July, China won the right to host the 2008 Olympics.
