Ross scored for the Scots against Wales in Haverfordwest

Two goals from Hayley Lauder helped Scotland to a victory in their international challenge match against Wales in Haverfordwest.

Gwen Harries pounced after the Scots failed to clear a 16th-minute free-kick, but Jane Ross produced a great finish to equalise 15 minutes later.

Lauder swept home after a Jo Love dummy to give the Scots a half-time lead.

Helen Lander took advantage of a bobble to equalise, but Love's cool finish and a Lauder lob secured victory.

Scotland coach Anna Signeul said: "It's always pleasing to score four goals. Our forward players linked up well and were all involved in every goal - the second in particular was a great move.

"There is a lot of competition for places now. If you look at the players who were missing today - Julie Fleeting, Kim Little, Jennifer Beattie - young players like Hayley Lauder have a chance to stake their claim.

"We started the game very well, so it was disappointing to go behind, in particular the manner of the goal, which came from us failing to deal with a free-kick.

"In general, we controlled the match and played very well at times.

"Wales defended strongly and won a lot of tackles. We had a few problems keeping possession in the middle of the park in the first half.

"So, after the break, we concentrated on playing down the flanks and it paid off.

"If we had switched the play a bit more throughout the game, I believe we could have scored more, but overall it's safe to say that we deserved the win."
