Everton Ladies boss Mo Marley wants future successes

Everton repeated their 2008 Premier League Cup success over the Gunners

Everton Ladies manager Mo Marley has challenged her side to be the dominant force in women's football.

The Blues beat Arsenal 3-2 to lift the 2010 FA Women's Cup on Monday.

"If you're going to be that unbreakable, unstoppable team - you've got to do it week in, week out," Marley told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"There are no excuses. You can't respond afterwards. You've got to be in the driving seat and make sure that you take the lead."

Marley added: "We haven't delivered on the big occasion in the past.

"Now we have to make sure we transfer to the top teams our performances against teams we fear less.

"We haven't done that before against the likes of Arsenal or Leeds and Chelsea. But now we have, and we said the FA Cup final was the start of the future."

Marley also had word of praise for Everton striker Natasha Dowie after her match-winning performance in the victory at the City Ground.

Although, as the Everton boss admits, Dowie has had to fight for her place in recent weeks.

"I left her out as she was having a barren spell. She wasn't particularly playing well and didn't have too much of an impact," said Marley.

"But what a fantastic response. She came back into the side and banged in a hat-trick [against Bristol] and played a significant part in winning us the the FA Cup."

Marley also knew it was a big day for veteran defender Becky Easton, who managed to get a winners' medal in her fifth final appearance.

"Becky is a legend at the club," she said. "She has just contained one of England's best centre forwards in Rachel Yankey."
