Lianne Sanderson hit the winner as third-placed Chelsea beat Bristol Academy 2-1 to maintain their hopes of winning the Women's Premier League.

Fourth-placed Doncaster Belles, five points behind Chelsea, kept up the pace with a 2-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers.

Birmingham climbed two places to fifth by beating Leeds Carnegie 2-1 thanks to a late Maz Gauntlett goal.

Liverpool eased their relegation fears with a 3-0 win at Watford, who had goalkeeper Marie Hourihan sent off.

WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE

Bristol Academy 1-2 Chelsea

With the top-of-the-table clash between Arsenal and Everton postponed, Chelsea took full advantage to move within seven points of the Toffees.

Jessica Smith's 57th minute header put the Blues in front, and though Michelle Green equalised 14 minutes later, Sanderson hit the winner from 20 yards within 60 seconds.

Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Doncaster Rovers Belles

Striker Katie Anderton gave the home side a 33rd minute lead with her ninth goal in as many games, and her 18th of the season.

But Donny staged a second half fight-back and after Naomi Chadwick's 77th minute equaliser, captain Vicky Exley grabbed the winner from a stoppage-time penalty.

Leeds Carnegie 1-2 Birmingham City

The visitors took a 10th minute lead through Jo Potter but then had to defend for long spells, particularly in the second half.

Substitute Ellen White seemed to have earned Leeds a point with an 84th minute leveller, but four minutes from time Gauntlett pounced to grab the winner.

Watford 0-3 Liverpool

Watford's unhappy afternoon started after just three minutes, when Maddy Hills put the relegation-threatened Reds in front.

Alyson Hastie doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, then 12 minutes after the break Hourihan saw red for handling the ball outside her penalty area.

That was just about the end of Watford's hopes, but to make sure Kelly Jones wrapped up victory for the visitors with the final goal three minutes from time.

Liverpool's win lifted them four points clear of the drop zone, but second-from-bottom Nottingham Forest now have three games in hand.
