Sunderland ladies back in action
Helen Alderson
England's Helen Alderson could return for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday
Sunderland ladies finally return to action on Sunday with the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.

The match will be their first in the league since mid-December when they recorded their seventh straight win with a 5-0 victory away at Stockport.

Since then they have endured an extended break due to cup competitions, international fixtures and bad weather.

The ladies lie third in the Premier League Northern Section behind Nottingham Forest and Lincoln City.

What have they missed?
20 Jan - h - Aston Villa
27 Jan - a - Tranmere
03 Feb - h - Man City
10 Feb - h - Lincoln City
17 Feb - a - Sheff Wed
24 Feb - h - Preston

Sunderland's enforced lay off has at least given the club's injury-list time to clear.

Striker Natalie Gutteridge [knee] is pushing for a recall while goalkeeper Helen Alderson has recovered from a hand injury.

The England Under-23 international goalkeeper has also been selected for the England Under-19 squad to appear in the Eight Nations La Manga Tournament in Spain from the 8-15 March where England face Italy, Sweden and Norway.

The 18-year-old recently returned from international duty with the England Under-23 squad and appeared in the defeat against Norway.
