Terry Skiverton admits he had serious doubts about becoming Yeovil Town manager shortly after taking over from Russell Slade in February.

He lost four of his first six games, including a 5-0 defeat at Brighton - and they are now 15th in League One.

"I won't lie - I did have second thoughts," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I take responsibility and that period was better than doing any coaching course. That little spell I had at the beginning - you can't teach that."

The 34-year-old former defender continued: "I had a lot of personal stuff that was going on. I was getting married, I had my testimonial and it could have been my last year as a player.

"There was a lot of pressure going on but you've got to stay strong. I've never walked away from a challenge in my life."

He saw the Glovers to League One safety last season as they finished in 17th spot, two points above the relegation zone.

This season Yeovil have made a promising start to the 2009/10 campaign losing just two games at home and picking up some creditable away points at MK Dons and Millwall.
