Skiverton happy with home start

Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton is relishing the start of the new season after seeing his side given two home matches to launch their campaign.

The Glovers host Tranmere Rovers before a Carling Cup tie against Norwich.

But Skiverton is cautious about his side's chances and believes they must capitalise with a strong start.

"The run-in looks quite hard so we know we will have to have a good start and do our best to get early points on the board," he told the club website.

"We will need to be ready to go straight from the first game and that will make pre-season a very important period for us.

"I think it is quite a good opening for us with two matches at home and then we have the prospect of some great local derbies, with the Exeter match being very early in the season.

"The ones I personally will be looking forward to will always be the big ones like Leeds, Southampton, Norwich and Charlton, and of course Exeter at Huish park will be a huge game.

"I will also be very proud to lead my club out at my old club Wycombe Wanderers, who of course gained promotion to League One last season.

"All in all I haven't really anything to complain about and I am really looking forward to the start of next season."

Yeovil Town finished 17th in League One last season.
