Bircham scored his only Yeovil goal in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy

Yeovil Town midfielder Marc Bircham has announced his retirement after a long fight against a succession of back, hamstring and ankle injuries.

The 31-year-old joined the Glovers in the summer of 2007 after spells with Millwall and QPR.

But he made only nine appearances last season and has started only five games this campaign.

He told the club website: "I've had a really good career and done nearly everything I've wanted to in football."
