Three clubs have shown their interest in the striker
Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade has put in his 'final' bid to sign Port Vale striker Luke Rodgers, with a view to a permanent signing in January.
It had been thought that Rodgers would initially move to Huish Park on loan, but the clubs are yet to agree on a transfer fee.
Slade told BBC Radio Somerset that this is "the final throw of the dice".
"We'll see what this proposal brings and we will draw it to a conclusion, one way or another," he added.
"I am hopeful, no more than hopeful, that we can pull it off this time.
"The club have faxed off another proposal to Port Vale in another effort to take him on loan until the January window and then look at a possible permanent deal
"We are hoping Port Vale will accept that. If they don't, I would say it would be dead in the water."
Slade said the offer was improved and was hopefully more suitably for both parties.
"I would have dearly liked him at least in Saturday's game just gone but was not meant to be and it doesn't look like we are going to get him for tomorrow's night game either."
The Yeovil boss said three clubs have approached Port Vale to sign the 26-year-old Birmingham-born former Shrewsbury Town hitman.
