Yeovil look forward to home start

Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town chief executive Martyn Starnes says the club are looking forward to kicking off the new season at Huish Park.

The Glovers will play host to Walsall on Saturday 9 August, the first time Yeovil have started with a home fixture since entering the football league.

"It's been a while since we started off the season with a home game, so we're delighted with that," said Starnes.

"I think it should be a good fixture to start with as well against Walsall."

Yeovil's first away fixture of the season is at Hereford on Saturday 16 August, before Leeds come to Huish Park a week later on 23 August.

Last season's fixture with Leeds was marred by crowd problems with visiting fans infiltrating the home end, and there are doubts whether this season's game will be played on the designated date.

"We would expect to have a pretty full attendance again," Starnes told BBC Somerset.

"Obviously the police are going to want to have discussions with us like they did last season, and we'll have to wait for the outcome of those discussions with them.

"We have learnt a lot from that fixture, there's no doubt about it," he added.
