On-loan Yeovil forward Aidan Downes has welcomed news that Glovers boss Russell Slade is hoping to make his move from Everton a permanent one.

The 19-year-old is out of contract at Goodison Park at the end of the season, and has impressed while at Huish Park.

"I've had a bit of a chat with David Moyes but he hasn't given away a lot," Downes told BBC Somerset.

"Russell says I can stay if I want to but nothing's down on paper. I want to keep playing well and see how it goes."

"I have to keep putting the performances in and hopefully things will take care of themselves," added the Republic of Ireland Under-21 striker.
