Slade will axe Yeovil's shirkers

Yeovil manager Russell Slade has vowed that the players who did not pull their weight in Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Crewe will be frozen out of the club.

"What disappointed me was that one or two people didn't put their shift in," Slade told BBC Somerset.

"That annoyed me immensely and those are the ones that I've got to shift out of the changing room.

"You don't want those around that are not going to pull their weight. I'm proud and so's this football club."

Slade was promising instant changes after Saturday's defeat left the Glovers 18th in League One, five points clear of the relegation zone and with three difficult games to go against Swansea, Leeds and Nottingham Forest.

"We've still got plenty of work to do before the end of the season," said Slade. "But certainly there'll be some of those faces missing.

"That's what disappointed me. You're down to 10 men and you're up against it but you don't pack up as a footballer.

"You've got to be professional and you've got to keep going and there's some out there feeling too sorry for themselves."

Yeovil were booed off the pitch at Huish Park after being beaten by relegation rivals Crewe. And Slade had this message for the fans, admitting: "I'm frustrated like they are.

"Certainly I care, and certainly I want a team to be proud of and, at this minute, that's difficult but all I can say is that we'll get there in the end.

"It's very much in our own hands and still is. We've got three important games to go and we'll try and select the type of player we think is going to be here long-term or is going to fight and roll his sleeves up."
