Brown is happy to fill in for manager John Gorman |
Assistant boss Steve Brown has insisted that he is only taking temporary charge at Wycombe while boss John Gorman is away following the death of his wife. Brown, along with Keith Ryan and Jim Barron, took charge of first team affairs for Saturday's win at Oxford.
And the former Wanderers stalwart told the club website: "John is the manager and always will be while I'm here.
"I enjoyed holding the reins while he's been away but I can't wait to have him back because I miss him."
Wycombe earlier announced the passing of Gorman's wife Myra after she lost her battle with cancer.
Brown spoke of his admiration for the Blues boss and insisted he still played a major role in team affairs.
He said: "John is still very much involved in what is happening here and that was his team out there that got the win against Oxford.
"For now we all try to understand what he's going through. What people have to understand is how much I admire him the way he has conducted himself after she was diagnosed last March.
"He is someone who is close to me not only as my boss but also as my friend. I'm saddened by the loss of his beautiful wife Myra."
