Wrexham boss Dean Saunders is enjoying success on the pitch

Wrexham manager Dean Saunders is expecting new investors to emerge to help fund the north Wales club.

The 46-year-old also dismissed rumours that owner Geoff Moss is about to sell the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

Saunders hopes that money will be made available to boost their promotion push after Saturday's 3-2 win at Mansfield kept them fourth in the table.

"I would have known if the club was sold, I think there might be some investors coming in," said Saunders.

"I think Geoff has invested an awful lot of money into the club and constantly puts money in to pay the wages each month."

Earlier this month Wrexham chairman Ian Roberts confirmed a plan to transfer ownership of their Racecourse Ground home to a new company, then lease the stadium back to the football club and its co-tenants the Crusaders rugby league team.

Roberts said at the time that Wrexham were "for sale" and that talks with possible new owners of Wales' oldest pro football club were "quite advanced".

However, Saunders understanding of the situation could indicate that Moss and Roberts will continue as part of the Wrexham FC hierarchy for the immediate future.

"I think there may be people coming in to try and help us," Saunders added.

"Obviously, all I'm concerned about is if they are going to give me money for the team. I've got enough on my plate without thinking about all the other things that go on.

"All the players worry about is are they going to get paid and what time are they training.

"If somebody came in and said we've got to sell five players and they're cutting the money down, then it affects my job so I'd be worried about that - but apart from that, there's no point me worrying.

"All I've got to do is get the players recovered for our next game and keep driving forward."

Wrexham are on a five-game winning streak - equalling the best run under Saunders since he first took over in October 2008 - and are next in action at home to Altrincham on Tuesday night chasing a sixth success to set a new record.
