Dean Saunders is his first managerial job at Wrexham
Manager Dean Saunders is to miss Wrexham's key Blue Square Premier clash at play-off rivals Histon next Saturday as he will be on international duty.
Wales' assistant manager will be with John Toshack for their 2010 World Cup qualifier against Finland in Cardiff.
Saunders' right-hand-men Brian Carey and Terry Darracott will take over Wrexham duties against Histon.
Wrexham have asked league chiefs to postpone the Histon game as the Dragons have had three international call-ups.
Wales prepare for their World Cup qualifying double-header with Finland on Saturday and Germany next Wednesday while Wrexham have crucial games against Histon on Saturday and Barrow next Thursday.
Saunders, though, is unequivocal that he will be with his country rather his club next week despite Wrexham's poor recent form.
Asked about how involved he will be with Wales, Saunders insisted: "I am the assistant manager so I will be very involved."
Then asked if he will be training with Wales, the 44-year-old added: "Yeah."
Wrexham's on-loan Cardiff City striker Jon Brown and full-back Neil Taylor were already in Brian Flynn's Wales under-21 squad for their double-header with Luxembourg.
But Wrexham stopper Chris Maxwell was a late call for young Wales on Friday as he replaced injured Chelsea 'keeper Rhys Taylor.
The Football League automatically postpone fixture when a club has three players away on international duty but the Blue Square Premier has no such rule.
Wrexham, in their first year since dropping into the non-league, succeeded in their bid to postpone a match earlier in the season due to international calls.
Ironically that was the reverse fixture against Histon at the Racecourse when the league board agreed to their previously unprecedented request.
The Dragons, still chasing one of the five Blue Square Premier play-off spots for a possibility of promotion back into the Football League, have asked for another postponement.
But the concern is that Saunders' men are playing twice a week every week until the end of the season so it would add to their fixture congestion if their new request is successful.
Saunders had previously insisted there would be no club versus country conflict as he juggles his two jobs, insisting: "The Wales job is a big part of my life and doing both roles well will not be an issue."
The former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker sought assurances from Wrexham chairman Geoff Moss that he could continue his Wales post.
Saunders said after he took the Racecourse job last October: "When Geoff was persuading me to be Wrexham boss, he made it clear he was happy for me to continue with Wales."
