Former Wrexham defender Gareth Evans has signed a professional contract for American side Austin Aztex.

The 22-year-old centre-back caught the eye of Aztex coach Adrian Heath, the former Everton striker, in try-outs.

Evans featured in trails at St Edwards University and signed for the US League Division One club on Thursday.

"Austin is much bigger than Wrexham and with very friendly people," said Evans, who signs along with former Stoke City striker Gifton Noel-Williams.
