Little arrived at the Racecourse last November

Manager Brian Little has left Wrexham by mutual consent, the club has announced in a statement.

The Dragons have had an indifferent start to life in the Blue Square Premier following their relegation from the Football League last season.

Little, 54, took over the reins from Brian Carey last November.

Carey and Martin Foyle will take over team affairs for Saturday's home match with Torquay United as well as next week's training.

"The Board would like to thank Brian for his honesty, integrity and unceasing efforts and wish him every success in the future," the statement said.

"The Board will make further announcements in due course."

Little was brought in last November to help Wrexham preserve their Football League status last season.

Despite making changes to personnel, he failed to keep them up, but was handed a new two-year deal.

Little made more changes over the summer as they prepared for life in non-league football.

But they have failed to live up to expectations slipping to 14th in the Blue Square Premier after four defeats in their last five games.

Caretaker boss Martin Foyle said: "I am gutted that he has left and it has probably affected me more than most.

"He was half way through a project and I don't think people realise how big the project was."

Little said after Tuesday's 3-0 home defeat to Rushden & Diamonds: "I'm here and I want to be here, I'm trying to do my best.

"But if it's not good enough and people don't want me I've no intention of making their lives a misery."
