Wales centre-back Steve Evans has signed a new one-year deal at relegated Wrexham, with an option for a further 12 months at the Racecourse.

"When I came back from Wales duty we sorted things out pretty quickly," Evans told the Wrexham website.

"I feel we can have a good year next year if we can get the momentum going, we're certainly due one."

Wrexham have also signed academy players Chris Marriott and Chris Maxwell on professional contracts.

Defender Marriott has been a regular for the reserves in the Pontins League in the last two seasons.

The youngster has even captained sides containing full professionals in his games at that level.

Llandudno-based goalkeeper Maxwell has had his path to the reserves blocked by three more senior keepers, but has represented Wales at Under-17 level.
