Surgeons will shave part of a disc in Williams' back that has been touching a nerve and causing him severe pain after matches over recent weeks.

"Danny is a big loss for us because he's a big leader and a big player for us and he will be missed," said Wrexham manager Brian Carey.

"But we've got players who can come in and do the job."
