Wolves striker Sam Vokes signs three-year contract
Vokes was only a bit-part player for Wolves last season
Wolves striker Sam Vokes has signed a new three-year contract at Molineux.
The 20-year-old Welsh international had two years left on his existing deal but is now tied to the club until 2013.
"It's a great boost for me to have an extra year on my contract and the club staying in the Premier League has just added to it," he told the club website.
"It's nice security to come back next season and know I've got three years left on my deal. Hopefully if I get a chance next season I'll take it."
Vokes joined Wolves from Bournemouth two years ago and made seven starts and 32 substitute appearances as they won the Championship in 2009, scoring eight goals.
He has had limited opportunities in the top flight, spending part of last season on loan at Leeds, but he said he was happy to be patient and bide his time.
"I want to come back for pre-season and push as hard as I can to get into the squad and the team," he said.
"Adding an extra year to the deal just gives me that confidence and I know I've got time to try and work on the things I need to make an impact."
