Ketsbaia gets away from Paolo Vernazza last season
Wolverhampton Wanderers hope that their new 900,000 signing Temuri Ketsbaia can fill the shoes of departed striker Ade Akinbiyi.

Newcastle's Georgian international has put his name to a two-year contract at Molineux, subject to a medical and the granting of a work permit.

Ketsbaia said: "I'm very happy to be signing for Wolves. I can see Wolves have ambition to be in the Premier League. I hope for the fans we can do that this season."

The 32-year-old moved to Newcastle from AEK Athens in the summer of 1997, and soon became a fan favourite.

Wolves boss Colin Lee was delighted to land Ketsbaia following the selling of super-striker Ade Akinbiyi to Leicester for 5m recently.

"Temuri is a great player who will add something different to the squad. He can play and score goals from anywhere."
