Kevin Doyle has scored eight goals in his first season at Molineux
Kevin Doyle has said Wolverhampton Wanderers are intent on ending the season positively by beating Sunderland at Molineux on Sunday.
But striker Doyle, Wolves' £6.5m record purchase, told BBC WM that defeat to the Black Cats would not take anything away from a superb campaign.
"It would be nice to go out on a high but, whatever happens, it won't ruin the season," said the 26-year-old.
"We've still got a chance of finishing 14th. That point has been made to us."
The Republic of Ireland international continued: "We'll be training just as hard as always and there will be no let up.
"But I'm sure the relief of being safe makes you ease off a little bit and you relax mentally."
Doyle's eight goals and hard-working performances as a lone striker have contributed to Wolves guaranteeing their Premier League survival for a second season.
Having been beaten just once in their previous eight matches, Wolves lost 3-1 at relegated Portsmouth on Saturday.
