Chelsea have recalled defender Michael Mancienne from his loan at Wolves.

Wolves had negotiated to keep the 20-year-old until 29 January but the paperwork on the extension was never completed and he is now wanted back.

Mancienne had been at Molineux since October and played 10 times, earning an England call-up in the process.

"We always knew Chelsea wouldn't want him cup-tied. We will have to wait and see what happens now," Wolves boss Mick McCarthy told the club's website.

Mancienne is set to play in Chelsea's FA Cup tie against Southend on Saturday.
