Davies's career has been plagued by knee trouble |
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is looking at sending injury-hit Mark Davies and Lewis Gobern out on loan this summer to boost their fitness for next season. Davies, 20, has not played for nearly a year while 23-year-old Gobern last featured for Wolves in December 2006.
"Mark Davies got injured in my second game here and has hardly played since. Lewis Gobern looked good in pre-season then got injured against Grays.
"They're just coming back and we'll look at some loan deals in the summer."
It is not yet known where the pair will go during the off-season but Ireland appears to be the favoured choice.
"We need to find some clubs who are playing summer football because they need to be playing," McCarthy said.
"They are good young players and products of the youth system and it will be good to have them back."
Gobern's season was ended by injury in pre season |
Davies made his Wolves debut as an 18-year-old and was a regular under Glenn Hoddle during the 2005/06 season.
But persistent knee problems have restricted the midfielder to 10 appearances in the last 14 months.
Gobern's league debut came during a loan spell with Hartlepool three seasons ago. He has also had temporary moves to Blackpool and Bury.
The winger looked like establishing himself in the Wolves first team last season when he started four matches in a row, scoring in successive games against Crystal Palace and Leicester.
