Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says the club's fans were quite right to lay into the team during and after the FA Cup defeat by Cardiff.

Wolves host Scunthorpe on Tuesday and McCarthy hopes his players remember the criticism they got at Ninian Park.

"It hurts and it should hurt. If we have anything about us we need to take that into Tuesday's game.

"We need a more positive, dynamic and aggressive performance. One that the fans expect to see," he told BBC WM.

Wolves conceded after 90 seconds and Cardiff scored again before half-time and comfortably held onto their 2-0 lead to reach the quarter-finals.

We'll never know if that team or the shape of it would've worked because we conceded after one minute and 30 seconds

McCarthy told BBC WM everyone has to shoulder the blame for the performance, including himself.

"I'll take some of the responsibility for that because I changed the team.

"I had to do some of it by necessity but we'll never know if that team or the shape of it would've worked because we conceded after one minute and 30 seconds."
