Ince to enter race for Wolves job
Paul Ince
Ince's playing contract expired at the end of June
Wolves skipper Paul Ince is to apply to become the club's new manager.

Ince's agent, Steve Kutner, said: "Paul is flattered that people would like him to be the next manager of Wolves.

"Because he has had such overwhelming support from the fans, I have drawn up a letter confirming he would like to be considered for the manager's position."

Glenn Hoddle resigned as Wolves boss on Saturday and Ince, who is set to apply for the job on Wednesday, has emerged as the favourite to succeed him.

Paul has made it clear he would be honoured to be considered for the manager's job

The 38-year-old midfielder, whose contract as a Wolves player expired at the end of June, is one of more than 20 applicants for the post.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "At the moment we are talking to him about playing for us again next season.

"I will make him a final offer on the playing contract, and then we will address the other issue.

"But Paul has made it clear he would be honoured to be considered for the manager's job."

Ince has no managerial experience but has played for England, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Liverpool and Middlesbrough during a 21-year career.

He has been captain of Wolves for the last four-and-a-half seasons.

Moxey is keen to make a swift appointment, with the start of the new season little more than a month away.

Hoddle had been Wolves boss for 19 months but quit on Saturday, saying: "I feel my expectations and the club's have drifted too far apart."
