The former Celtic skipper has been out of action since suffering a cruciate ligament injury last September.

"The knee seems fine but the frustrating thing is waiting to see the surgeon on Thursday," he said.

"I was told before I needed to wait eight weeks then go back and he would give me the green light to play and hopefully that's what will happen."
