 Luznhy will become Wolves' first signing |
Oleg Luzhny has moved a step closer to becoming a Wolves player after passing his medical at Molineux. The Ukrainian defender is a free agent after his contract expired at Arsenal and has been in talks with Premiership newcomers Wolves for several days.
He has agreed to the move and will now officially join Dave Jones' squad when he receives a new work permit.
"We are delighted that Oleg is joining us and he will be back here at Molineux next week after taking a short break," Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the club's website.
Club secretary Richard Skirrow is confident Luzhny will have no problem applying for a new work permit.
He said: "The whole deal is subject to Oleg obtaining a new work permit but we don't envisage any problems."
The defender will become the club's first signing of the summer following their promotion to the Premiership at the end of last season.
The 34-year-old joined the Gunners for �1.8m in 1999 and made 24 appearances for the club last season - including four in the Champions League.
His final appearance for the Gunners came in their 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Southampton in May.
