Woking have released club captain Neil Smith, following the appointment of Frank Gray as manager. Smith, 35, stepped up to act as caretaker player-boss after the sacking of Glenn Cockerill, and helped to keep the Cards in the Conference.
However, he then missed out on landing the job full-time.
"I'm in shock. It's really hurt me. I thought I could have been treated a little better," the former Reading man told BBC Southern Counties Radio.
"I'm not saying they should have shown loyalty to me, but I don't feel I have had any praise for what I did to help the club in a sticky situation."
