Wilson could not save MK Dons from relegation to League Two |
MK Dons have parted company with manager Danny Wilson following their relegation to League Two. Wilson joined the club in 2004 and steered the Dons to safety on the final day last season.
But chairman Pete Winkelman told the club website: "I am deeply disappointed that we have reached this position.
"We may have taken a step backwards in the past few days, but our ambition is still to secure the highest level of football possible for our supporters."
Wilson's side were relegated on the last day of the season after a 0-0 draw at Rotherham.
And the former Sheffield Wednesday boss was confident of remaining in charge for next season.
But Winkelman added: "I'd like to thank Danny for all his efforts during his time with Milton Keynes Dons and wish him all the very best in his future career."
